the VINs aren't completely random, they skip at random rates but they go in sequential order. Someone will probably post that has a fairly complete list of vins and car numbers and they can tell you approx. what number your car is. The only way to truly find out is to submit your info to PAS, I'd suggest doing this no matter what though since it's good documentation to own especially for the price.
I have a lot of VIN's that I've collected over the years. Definitely not complete. If anybody wants it, just ask. I think I'm about done with trying to figure out all this stuff. Plus I haven't had my car in over 4 years, so I'm loosing interest.
Still have other TTA stuff laying around. Some tuning, some stock pieces, etc. Have to get rid of it also.

Although there is no exact corelation btween vin and build #'s, they follow a general pattern; that is, low vins have low build #'s, high vins have higher build #'s. There are many discrepancies but they are rather minor(I know of a car with a vin# 10 digits higher than one of mine, yet the build # is lower by 10).
Bottom line....What are the last 5 digits of your vin? There should be enough responses to give you a good idea of what it is.

Any chance we can compile an electronic list where we can keep adding new VINs and build numbers we get hold of moving forward?

I have the PHS for both my cars, and they both agree with Rob's list. The other numbers I've collected over time(about 40) all agree as well.
I would say that everybody can add to it and be constantly updated. That way it can be a public data.
I noticed in your sig you have one that is number 916... and it is cloth.. I had thought that only the first 187 or so were "festival" cars with cloth.... Is this true?
I am asking becuse I don't know...

916's window sticker shows it started as a leather car; someone early on installed a correct cloth interior . However,since there were 187 cloth/t-top cars and about 150 Festival Cars, there are some cloth/t-top cars that weren't Festival Cars. I believe that some Festival Cars were numbered in the 200's, so of the first 187 made not all were FC's. There were also 15 cloth/hardtop cars.

Many places. Got a lot of them from Russ' original site when you could plug your VIN in and get the build number. For sale ads to get VIN's and then try to figure out the build number.
Obviously, it wasn't anywhere near being complete.
Maybe John Pearcy could post up the VIN/build numbers one day. I'm sure he has them all. I doubt PHS would ever do that but maybe them also.
