Burned TTA

Yeah that car has been on a thread here somewhere, Jim C. friend maybe? i think it was the one that had a leaking injector.
 
I can't see someone trying to fix that car. Paint alone will be $5k. Not to mention, interior, dash, wiring, motor work, hood/body work, etc. Auction stated Estimated Repair Cost: $29,610 (ok maybe that's a bit high) Question is....are there $3,600 worth of parts? It'll be close and not worth it in my opinion. Now I'm curious what the buyer is going to do....watch out for cleaned up (formerly burned) parts on ebay.
 
If a car dealer bought it with salvage title theyll try and WASH the title by selling and transfering in another state. Theyll buy it back with non salvage branding then try and sell it. Watch for title transfers. The only thingis after all that and rebuilding, whats a TTA worth 10-12....i believe it will take alot to fix that car right. Whoever bought that to fix they should consider it a keeper...not going to make money fixing it. Parting it would be way to profit but that would be work parting burnt vehicle.
 
The vin numbers are in both the listings above and they do not match for the one supposedly shipped to finland. I have often wondered what happened to this TTA which seemed pretty bad ass prior to its melt down.

It was shipped to Finland 2 weeks ago. I went to check it week before shipping and it was much worse than pictures are showing
 
When i look at a burn car no matter how pics look, its burnt so just think about replacing everything. Look at it that way and not what pics look like...
 
Fire in that car was strange place, it was inside dash passenger side. Ecm was clearly burned and heater fan in engine department. Front leather seats were covered melted headliner. TTA was having really ugly aftermarket steering wheel and red painted door panels :eek:
 
This above mentioned TTA:

appears to be owned by Philadelphia Ins Co (Grundy)

Seller :Philadelphia Insurance Companies - Grundy

so it probably was totaled by the ins company and the owner got the agreed value. I'm assuming they are trying to recoop some of the payout by selling it at this auction.

Does anyone know if ACV $27,500 means "agreed collector value"??

If so, I'm thinking I should bump my value up a few grand, as they are the same company I insure my cars with.

The pace car with the camera equipment is in the Indy Hall of Fame museum (or should I say in one of the many garage storage areas they have) ... and apparently in a bit of a sad shape and wont run ... or runs very poorly.


Bobby had a TTA assigned to him during the event but I believe he might have owned one or two (either given to him or he bought them cheap) ... so no not the actual pace car.

I was just kidding with Fire dept...I know where that car was from. You'd have to get behind me first to buy the one at INDY
 
I remember seeing 20/20 years ago showing how insurance salvage vehicles sold outside the US sold for good money here but when repaired over theresold for 3 times what they are worth here...crazy

And they still doing it! Thats nothing compare what they did new 3.gen f-bodys just get them tax free to Finland!:thumbdwn:

Those wheels looked similar to the wheels on the 6 spd car in Road & Track that was a factory experimental with a 6spd diff chip and such for a top speed show down with some other rare types...ferrraris and shit. Those wheels remind me of early Firehawk wheels except the 180 mph TTA had gold inlays rather than white (like this burnt ex) or red (like the Firehawks).
