From a development point of view what was the split/responsibility of the involved parties GM/PAS/Triad? Did GM outsource the complete project or did they develope it all and the have suppliers bid for building the cars? What's the real story behind these cars from a GM then PAS/Triad perspective?

PAS/Triad was based in MI, did all the prototype work and development take place there and the just production setup up in the City of Industry facility?

How many people were involved in this project from PAS/Triad and what was their key roles? Same for GM?

How many people were employed "temporarily" @ City of Industry to 1 build the drive trains and 2 to tune and get cars ready for shipment to Pontiac Zone offices?

What was the work flow for building the drive trains @ City of Industry?

How were the engines transported to the GM Van Nuys assembly plant? Small batches, all in one go?

Any photos from the Van Nuys assembly line to share? Or videos?

Any photos from the City of Industry plant? Or videos?

What changes where done (part re-design, supplier changes or QA issues) during the Dec 88 - April/June 89 manufacturing of the 1550 TTAs?

I know of changes/re-design to the MAF plastic inlet tube, water in the air-filter canister (GM fix was drill a couple of holes to drain out any water collecting in there :-))

Did PAS have the supplier relationships or was this all handled via GM and they had parts for the 1550 drivetrains shipped to the PAS facility @ City of Industry

Part numbers: Some parts I've seen (stickers on parts) got 3540-20TA-10115 (this is the aircon hose assembly for instance) on them was this the typical part number sequence you assigned to the specific TTA parts for these cars for production? Is there a list of all parts and part numbers PAS used somewhere? For spare parts GM assigned their typical (is it 8 digits) part numbers correct?

 I got tons of questions, we never had a direct source to actually get the correct answers to all this so this is a once in a lifetime opportunity ... heck we could write a book about this when we got all our questions answered :detective:

Oh and no smoke on this side of the pond ... yet

Driver Side Door PAS sticker ... see attached image ... got two dates on it one being the GM build date the other the PAS build date (or whatever those dates reflect).

I know the GM build date (month/year) matches the buildsheets build date.

Why, on some of the cars, is the PAS build date 1 month earlier than the GM build date, error for some reason or is there some logic behind it?

Most I've seen have either the GM date being the month before the PAS date or both being the same month/year which all makes sense to me however some do have the PAS date being 2/89 and the GM date on there being 3/89 ... how come the PAS date would be earlier than the GM date?

The 3 pace cars ...

The story is that these were just pulled at random from the 1550 TTA's built however one of the buildsheets for one of the 3 have "pace car" written on it indicating that they might have been ordered and build specially as pace cars and all 3 where charged directly to Pontiac (so the real 3 used with strobe lights etc) and not just pulled at random ... what's the real story on these?

Festival/parade cars:

Story goes that the 3 INdiana based dealers prepped all cars (put the door decals on there etc) then they were taken to Indy however the info from one of the truck drivers (see Turbo Trans Am Forum - View Single Post - Whos TTA at the Detroit Autorama and thanks Warren for posting this) ... make it sound like they were taken from MI down to Indy all ready to go?

What is the story, who prepared the 150 TTA's for use at Indy and what role did the 3 Indiana based dealers play in all this (all the build sheets got one of the 3 Indiana dealers details on them for the 150 cars) ... Dealers were Don Sisk Pontiac Inc, Coral Pontiac-GMC Inc and Tom Wood Pontiac Inc.

And in one photo of all festival/parade cars we seen a hardtop TTA ... was this used at Indy and if so for what purposes? 1 or more hardtops?

Question: Why were some Festival Cars sold directly by GM to company employees and others sold by various Pontiac dealers?

When did the last TTA (no 1550) leave the PAS City of Industry facility and when did PAS empty and close the City of Industry facility.

What happened to the equipment etc @ City of Industry when / after closure?

Did all the documentation go back to the PAS Troy, MI offices?

Who approached who about putting the LC2 into the TA and making it a pacecar? Obviously there is a story behind this. How long had it been
planned for the TA to be the pacecar in 89?

Wake up boys! Don't let Jan hog up all of our mystery guest's time! wow I almost spilled the beans here and put his name in! doh! :D

What was the thoughts from Pontiac/GM on the 1500 TTAs talked about in the early press announcements etc how come they settled on 1550 in the end?

Also rumours say (Jim Wangers and others) that Pontiac did not like this car due to it having a Buick engine and therefor did not continue building them??

What was the internal GM thoughts, ideas and original versus actual plans around this project ... one off activity to celebrate the 20th anniversary or future plans to continue using the Buick engine setup in the TA?

That whole bit about sour grapes because its a buick engine boggles my mind. They had an olds engine in the grand am, they had a chevy 305 and 350 in the trans am ever since 82, WTF does it matter? In fact the engine thats in the Trans Am is more "pontiac" than anything else they had with the exception of the Iron Duke that late into the 80s. After all they gave it new pistons, cross drilled crank, different cylinder heads, different exhaust. Did they do that to the quad 4 or the chevy small block engines, NOOOOO.

Is Jans comprehensive list with vins and supposed build numbers accurate?

I have a feeling the answer is no...

Nope its not ... some confusing areas in there and a couple of VIN's missing etc.

And remember this list is just based on the VIN sequence order so same as PHS .... but unless I get a complete list of all VINs we will not have a 100% accurate list to work from ... one of these days I guess we will have this in place (I hope)

Not meant as a jab to you at all! I am
hoping he can clear the issue at the reunion...maybe he can
bring an entire comprehensive list of vins and build numbers both from Pontiac and PAS!

I've haven't been keeping up with post...mostly because the event is still so far away...but let me add this little tidbit of info.

I believe Jan's list of the first 250-300 cars is SPOT ON, 100% accurate, no questions about it. After that I cannot say.

Yep first 285 in fact ;)

For the rest there's some gaps and questions but not that many to complete it all actually.

And yes the PAS numbering used would only be found on the original PAS documentation .... and this is not the same as the PHS numbering (VIN sequence order ... like the list I published).
