Consensus of opinion

i saw that car last night. looks to be an interesting opportunity for someone who wants a super low-mile car. the one thing that caught my eye is fuse for the "underhood lamp?" now my car is wrapped up for the winter so i cant go out and check it and i *think* i know it pretty well and i am 99.9% certain it never had/has an underhood lamp installed.....i'll check and see if there is some RPO on the books but as far as i know it wasn't part of the deal?????

Their website list the car for 37.5k :-)

This TTA was up for sale on ebay mid last year with a different seller (still a dealer) looks like.

For the fuse these did actually come with our cars when new and was not for the underhood lamp (TTAs didnt have that) however the fuse was for the fuel pump or similar I beleive so the truck drivers would not take the cars for a joyride ... maybe not the fuel pump as they had to load / un-load the cars but something else preventing the misuse of the cars ... so dealer installed.

For the dealership, they have some really nice cars for sale just a pitty their stock seems to be stored outside in the snow :-(

Doesn't it seem to have surface rust everywhere? I would figure a low mileage car like that should be cleaner. It must have been stored in a humid environment.

Pretty much any car would have some surface rust, most of the very low milage ones I've seen do ...

Here's the cure:

Nice car, but would make for a very expensive "garage ornament." I dont see putting any miles on it and ever being able to recoup the $39, 900. For that amount of money you can have a REALLY nice garage.:)

Really nice TTA, It would be of no use to me. I have to drive them some. Still glad there are a few with less than 500 miles though!:D

I think the price is fine, it might sell at 37k or 35k, something like that given enough time and exposure. I believe if it gores to auction it may not fare so well. I was at Barrett Jackson Vegas and a lot of car sold below value from my point of view in the stands.

I think if you own a classic car dealership you should have enough indoor storage for them. That's ridiculous.

eBay fee's around $250.00 if sold at the price he wants.... Barrett Jackson fee's about $3500 plus. So I don't know how that is a threat. They just listed it on eBay to save money! Asking price is about right. That's what I'll take for my 30K mile car. My engine bay blows that one away :)

Damn, of the 4 on ebay right now, my car that the dealer bought is listed on there at $29,995 looks like a bargain next to the other ones that have far less or are modified...maybe I should have kept it a few more months...oh well, a new car is arriving tomorrow :)

That's a tough one. A low mile example like this is definitely worth some serious coin. However, the target market for cars like this is drastically reduced. Might take 6-12 months to sell this one, with good exposure.

I agree, exposure and time are what's needed here to sell at this price. I think it will sell for less when somebody calls the dealer and cuts a deal.

I'm sure if this was a run of the mile '87 GN without any special options but low miles they'd easily get that kind of money. :wall:

GN or TURBO TA im glad the price is what it is. I've always thought GN's and TURBO TA's are worth more...

I see nothing wrong with the price, even if it was negotiated down a bit for such a low mileage example. Problem is, what are you going to do wirth it once you own it ? Paying the bigger dollar for such a low mileage example then driving it a few thousand miles just makes it a high 20's car with all the usual fluid & car sitting issues to work though. Better to spend a safe mid 20's on a car that has been driven a bit and maintained. You could own it for years and make a few dollars on it while having enjoyed the use of it. There are a few TTA's out there with 10 to 20K on them that are almost as good condition wise, and you won't get financially beat up owning them. If you drive & show them, they WILL pick up a few marks, no way around it. I bought a 12K Festival car for what I thought was a reasonable deal at the time and am happy with it. I can & have enjoyed it without affecting the value. Low milers are for those collectors with enough space & money to just let a car sit as a museum piece.
There is also the other angle. It would be about the same $$$'s to spend $30 to $35K on this car then $10 to $12K & do a complete restoration. Add up body work, paint, interior, drivetrain, rare $$ parts, tires etc & you might soon be at the same dollar expense, but now you have a restored higher mile car not worth the value of the low mile original.

Sooner or later the TTA will be "discovered" by the general public, that is the reason the GN bring's more money, alot more car's made alot more recognition = mo' money...

Where you been hiding Robert? I sent you a PM. Let me know if you're still interested in my SSEi. We can load it up with whatever TTA "junk" I still have laying around.
