E-Brake Handle

Needing to get my E-Brake handle recovered or replaced with Nos if I can find one.

Haven't been able to find a good used one or Nos one, So I called Dallas Custom and they said they could recover it for $85 plus 7 shipping.

Has anyone else used them to get their brake handle covered?

Also, I inquired about a leather shift boot. They said they could make me one if I send my old one as a pattern, the price was $75 plus shipping.

I was reading the thread and contacted the gentleman from the Fiero forum regarding the e-brake handle. He said he has not done one to date but would give it a try. I'm going to send him my e-brake handle and shifter handle and give it a try. His price for the shifter handle is $35 and he does not have a price yet for the e-brake handle, I'm thinking it can't be too much more. I'll update with photos when I get the items back.

Excellent, thanks for doing this.

If they turn out good I'm sure many of us will send him ours as well.

I know at some point he were looking to start doing steering wheels as well but not sure if he ever did.

Great, I sure could use a E-Brake handle as well as my old shifter knob recovered, for a spare.

got my spare e-brake handle and shifter handle out ready to go if this turns out to be a viable and cost effective option for us ....

Lance, you need to sign up on that board to be able to view the page. Can you post some pictures of work he's done for the 300ZX guys you think? Any prices listed?
 
Was Dallas Steering Wheel expensive? I would like to get my steering wheel re-leathered and their work looks pretty good. I probably should've purchased the wheel they recently had on Ebay, but I was slow to pull the trigger.

To buy one outright it is $349 + shipping. If you send in yours in to be recovered he gives a discount of I think $75, but email him and ask to be sure. Its been over a year ago I dealt with him, so things may have changed.

i looked real hard at kymmee's steering wheel at the reunion and unless you have seen a nos wheel or hold one beside hers you would be hard pressed to tell the difference (but you will notice the $500 price difference) :chat:

Initial quote is about $200 for recovering my TTA wheel. Not sure if that will be final as Chris has not worked on one of our wheels. But he has done 3-spoke and 4-spoke wheels for both the Z32 and Z31 series Nissans - as well as e-brake handles.

Again, I will post more as it comes along for those interested.
 
Hey guys, Im Chris (Greavous) from the 300zxclub.com forum. Ive been re-wrapping wheels, making shift and parking brake boots and wrapping parking brake handles for the Zcar guys for almost a year now.

Gatorlance has his wheel on the way to me for new leather and told me some of you were looking for some quality leather work AND at a reasonable price. The picture is a parking brake handle, boots and a shift knob I did for a guy who wanted yellow stitching,,, who am I to tell someone what they need?

This shot is of the very first one I ever did and its on my twin turbo slicktop. Ive modified the design some now but overall its the same basic concept. I charge $35 plus shipping for a brake handle. you can see more of my work at my site LeatherWheels.com .

Yeah, Chris says he does e-brake handles for $35 + return shipping. He also said he'd get on this board and perhaps post something up.

So who's gone be our genuie pig for the handbrake and shifter handle and might as well get the shifter boot done as well. All in OEM style "smooth" leather in correct color and stitching?

Chris, I got a complete set (none leather shifter boot removed already to use as template for a real leather one, worn leather shifter and hand brake handles) .... do you want to experiment and use these as samples?

These 3 items were used on many Firebird's 85 - 92 with the leather interior so between us on this board, gtasourcepage.com and thirdgen.org there should be some good business to be had.

Id be willing to experiment using those for templates. I assume the color is one ill need to source carefully. Having a sample of the color would definitely help.
I should have Lance's wheel here in a day or so. Let me get that done and im sure he will post up the result. I posted some pics and info a couple days ago but it seems the mods didnt approve what I had to say. I understand that as you have to pay to advertise at our Zcar site as well. Im a SuperMod over there and have to make decisions where to draw the line too.

Greavous (Chris) contacted me last night to tell me he is still experimenting with the panels on the wheel. Sounds like it is an interesting job. Reinforcing why I should not be doing upholstery. Will post pics in another week or so on progress as they come in. I am in no rush and asked Chris to take his time on this, so it may be a bit.
 
Things are looking good guys, but I have to admit this style of wheel is and has been a challenge to create cutting patters for. Most wheels are either two or four pieces of leather and the only real concern is getting the grip girth measurement correct and having adequate material to cover the spokes until they are covered by the center horn/airbag portion of the wheel. Think how the width of a rubber band changes as you stretch it longer. In this case there are six pieces and the entire front and rear are covered. Making the patterns from the leather I removed isnt simply a matter of flattening it out and tracing. That leather has been stretched, folded, shaped and shrunk for two decades and the removed bits are simply a guideline to work from. Once all the details are worked out and this wheel has gone through the process It should only take me a couple days to turn a wheel around.
