I loved my lil TE-60 3200 9 inch stall mid 11's all day in the gn great street manners 23mpg
 
Just went out again tonight with #1040 for some spirited dusk driving and trying to get a better feel for this one. I am now thinking the torque converter may be a little bigger, maybe the manual was just a general install for the trans. Now that I understand the process a little better, I got the tires to start to break at about 3200-3300 RPM and then let her rip. It still has a little lag but when that turbo gets into the boost in it pulls super hard. I was just used the stock launch and how it starts to rip when you give it a little throttle and it is so different in this car. This car screams muscle while the stock one is so quiet, people wonder what just blew buy them. The bigger turbo even has a much deeper and lower sounding turbo whistle when you let off the gas. And I am loving the smell of alky kit kicking in too. Gonna be a fun summer.
 
Must say some great info on this thread! i'll know what I need to do when 77 is ready to run, I think she has a 3800 stall far as I know.

Street tires or DR's ? if you are running street tires AND the t.c matches the turbo you should have a real problem with traction, any idea what the boost is set at?
 
I am running a set of new Firestone Indy Wide ovals, stock size. They grip really good, only slip a little. The boost is set at 24. I haven't really run it WOT though, already moving pretty good when the high boost kicks in.... so far they still stick.

My mechanic said the same thing about the street tires and car's set up, so the tc is probably undersized for the turbo.

Yep, T.C or Turbo, pick your poison, or maybe a young kid that wanted to run with the ricer's on top end or a roll , never know but a te-44bb will do the trick.....

get another pair of wheels an mout stock size mt/radials on them u will love them .... Ive driven from sc to rockingham to fayetville all in the rain same day turbo buick had a meet when jack brought his pumpkin down
