I will say it again.. i don't know how you guy's and gal's up north deal with this frigid weather every yr.,
It's one of the reasons we won the war! :cold:
Seriously...I'm old enough to remember the winter of 77, as 13 yr old boy walking home from school I could barely see over the piled up snow separating the road from the sidewalks. I don't recall a worse winter here,except for one of the winters around 1998ish when we had snow everyday for 31 straight days,and not flurries, ...like an inch a day or 6 inches a day.
You other yankees know what I mean,you run out of places to pile up snow,our driveways become narrower,the streets become narrower and the most plush of luxury cars made ride like 3/4 ton trucks when the temps dip below 0*. And forget about using your power windows,and of course part of your morning includes starting your car 30 mins before you attempt to drive away,even with that there is a perpetual frozen pond on your driverside floormat.
And I haven't even talked about "fenderbergs" or how our cars change color because of a layer of Calcium Chloride all over the car in vary waves of thickness, turning white cars into a shade of beige to grey....and god help you if your drive through a car wash and park outside....good luck opening your doors! You also know that stopping by the convience store usually means getting yet another gallon of the 10 gallons of windshield washer fluid you'll use this winter,,,oh! and let's talk about the uselessness of wiperblades below 25*....we get very adept at peering through a 10"x2" field of view in the windshield all the while mainting a 60 MPH speed through occasional "whiteouts"(another distinctly northern expression)
This goes on from December thru march around here and I cant imagine what you Canadians tolerate .

Don't walk with your hands in pockets
Frozen nose hair
Boots becomes fashionable at ANY societal occasion....formal or not
Winter in a snow belt area is like living in a slow motion natural disaster that no one else seems to much care about,which is fine....we have just become accustomed to it and we just go through everyday because we know that the rest of the moderate climates are not going to stop and let us catch up.
I will say though....I've been in southern Florida in late July and I noticed that the natives(and us) react the same to their weather then as we do up here in the winter....they scamper from the air condition houses to their air conditioned cars to their air conditioned stores....just as we do about our heated sanctuaries ...avoiding the extreme temps at either end.
but without the perpetual wet feet we live with in the winter.
