That's the tensioner itself ... will be a costly thing to replace and find.

Post on turbobuick.com to see if you can get hold of a good used one but be prepared to pay for it :-(

I have the spare tire, looks to be in really good shape. Anything to verify its TTA specific on the spare tire?

Thanks TurboGTA, $199 isnt too bad, and they look to be in fairly good shape as im sure theyve been painted. Tensioners for any year of the GN are a direct fit correct?

Yep aluminium, looks like the regular black steel spares ... but 15" and aluminium.

nos4gn.com used to carry new aftermarket (same manufacturer as the originals just without the GM part number stamped on them) and NOS tensioners but don't see them on their site anymore so guess they ran out as well ... worth asking them to see if they do have one or not.

at least the 86/87 GN tensioner is the same ... earlier I don't know.

How many terminals should be going to the start? Should be 4 in total correct?

Should be the big thick wire and the two medium size wires going to the point on the far left, the smaller sized one going to the smallest middle point, and no wire going to the post on the far right?

All I know for sure is the 86 and 87 is the same; earlier years I'm not familiar with unfortunatly.

I have to look for a photo of the alternator to see if I have any photos of mine ...

Here's a photo of the belt routing; or do you just need info on the belt? Correct one is a 6PK1605 belt (so 6 ribs and 1605mm long) and they are still used on cars here in Europe and I beleive Rockauto might have the Gates brand; if not I can help you out getting one from this side of the pond.
