New Member Need Some Input

Thanks Jan, I was looking for the routing of the belt. Yeah whenever you have a minute if you can post the pic of the wiring that goes to the alternator it would be great, thanks.

Sorry dont seem to have a picture clearly showing the wire/s goint to the alternator stud.

Anyone got their car out and can snap a picture please ?

This what you are looking for ?
Robert, it is exactly what I am looking for. Question, in the middle picture there appears to be two wires connected to the alternator held down by the nut, while on the 1st and 3rd pic there appears to be only one single wire?

Javier, I believe it is the hot wire kit for the fuel pump. It's an upgraded hot wire to the upgraded fuel pump.

Yeah its two different TTA's, one stock one modded, single wire is stock.

Great thanks, because I have two wires that are loose, but it appears to be a stock setup and stock fuel pump. How would I be able to distinguish if it is in fact a hot wire kit?

Trace the wire; the one (single one in the picture) would be from the battery plus pole (runs down at the front of the engine, low part of front cover in a plastic channel).

A hotwire kit wire would run straight to the back of the car (to the fuel pump), along the driver side somewhere most likely strapped to the fuel and brake lines running front to rear.

If one of the wires runs straight back to the fuel pump, That's your hot wire kit.

IDK
I'm gonna sit this one out.

Well I'm a little late, but I took a few pictures too. I dont know if my alternator is the orig or not. I do not have the hot wire kit AFAIK.

TTA service manual supplement might help answer alot the questions about the TTA, it is a must for the TTA owner!

So the extra wire attached to the alternator runs to this relay, several of the other wires just go into the harness going into the drivers side of the car. When I attempted to plug the end of the wire on the relay a loud crackling noise came from the starter/flywheel area?

You would need to trace those wires and see where they end up ... a electrical schematic will help you see what they are hooked up too.

Maybe they bypassed the VATS system in a strange way ... or is there some sort of immobiliser / alarm installed ?

Thanks Jan, Im guessing I would be able to locate the electrical schematic on the TTA supplement manual?

You would need both the regular 1989 Firebird Service manual as well as the TTA supplement service manual to cover all electrics in our cars. TTA supplement only covers what is unique to the TTA.

I see several TTA supplement service manual's on ebay currently for around the $35 mark in good condition ... should be a number of the regular service manual on there as well but not looked recently.
