Next Project....GNX #239????

You wonder what the story is on how it ended up in this condition. Price isn't too bad (maybe a little off), but it depends on many things. If the car is all there, someone will just need to go through it and clean it up. Those cars never had good paint and most GN's all have been repainted at sometime. I would go pick it up for 18K maybe.

The guy I bought my TTA from has a GNX with less than 500 miles on it. The paint doesnt look that great. His is all orig, but the paint doesnt have any depth to it.

I think all the GN's and GNX's had crappy lacquer paint from the factory. There were a bunch of warranty repaints years ago. I thought the paint had a chance if it was stored in a climate controlled facility though.
 
Not sure if it's a reflection but it look's like it was hit in the left rear quarter... if it would take 20k to restore i don't think it's worth what they are asking with that many mile's, but i'm sure someone will buy it...
 
Other than the paint and faded plastic bits (vents, wheel well flares) why is the passenger seat all ripped up? You would think the driver's seat would show the wear. And why is the gear shifter missing? WTH?!?!
GNX or not the guy is smoking something strong to expect nearly $24k for this FIRM.
 
its a solid 15k car if it is a real gnx with real gnx turbo and cover suspension parts an intercooler

So why would anyone bother with this beat up & put to bed wet example $30K + at least another $20K, including most likely having to buy another GN for donor parts and all of your time. $55K minimum to restore it and be only worth that much at best when done. Too many good examples pop up from time to time for realistically not a whole lot more if looking at higher mileage examples.
The main fact the seller is missing is that this will never be comparable to a mint low mile original that commands the big money. It will always be a high miler with a rough history, not that there is anything wrong with that, but the value of this car will always be reflected in the mileage. Would rather buy the best GN available on the market right now for $30K or less.

^^agreed. There is no way. The seller is smoking crack. I would rather have that TTA that jarred was selling for 12k
 
The seller should be more realistic and allow the GNX to be sold at a value that would make sense to have it restored. Sad to see it sit outside in the elements neglected. But, it needs everything and then some.
 
i got a stupid question. what is the realistic value of this car? i agree that the 30k is too high but i don't think 20 would get it. it should be saved but the poor car is hammered. kinda sad really but to whom ever bought it in he first place it was just a car to them......
 
I know some time ago a GNX was totaled and the numbers GNX dash # and GNX rear were removed. I remember seeing pics of it....I don't know what happened to that one. I think there was a post on turbo buick.Be funny if this one is same #
The car was literally smashed in half

If that GNX had 100, 000 miles it be worth 30K
But if it was a TTA... $4500

I wouldn't pay more than $10k for it... offer $5k.... you will easily put $30k into the restoration and the car with the moles and history will only be worth between $30-40 and that is someone looking for a bargain driver GNX... ...

Depends on how bad he needs the cash on what it will sell for..... I have a feeling it was picked up cheap/salvaged and will sit in the trash pile until the right deep pocket person with money to burn comes a knocking looking for a new project to spend some cash on..... he will sell it for $25k and both parties will walk away thinking they just got away with a great deal.....

Wrong, there is a nice driver on e-bay now for 39k, i think it has 74k mile, this car would take a min. $20k to bring back, just not worth more than 10k to me.

I think everyone is on the same page, take the value of a reasonably well maintained GNX of about the same mileage & work the numbers backwards. I can't even see putting $20K into it, your time has to be worth something. Reasonable value for a do it yourself restorer might be in the $15K range. If your could score a rusted GN with a decent interior, good front clip and other parts for less than $5K and then be prepared to put at least another $20K into the project ? Just don't know if it makes more sense not just to go out and buy a better car for a bit more and save the hassle.
$30K is just out of the question, but it is a GNX and does have some value and should be salvaged.
 
Notice i said 20k min., and that's you doing most of the work, keep in mind too that that's just what we see, whoever owned this car is a idiot and nothing else would surprize me as far as what will have to be done...:cheekiss:

Hopefully you didn't take my post the wrong way, I was agreeing with you. I guess the value of this GNX is going to be in the eye, talent & tolerance of the person who is going to buy it for restoration. Who ever that is better assume it`s going to need absolutely everything.

I know what your sayin' just want the avg. Joe to understand if you have a resto shop you MIGHT make a few hundred but you know that already if you have the means to make it happen... otherwise you will take a bath.:yes:
