Nice work, Frank. I like it!
Looking good!
Hi Frank,
I've seen these posted over at TB and I meant to ask you then, but the screens over oil returns, is that to keep errant gasket material from finding it's way into the pick up I assume?
If so,do you think there is any chance that may impede oil return and maybe create an oil starvation issue?
Rich
Okay, how are the screens attached? with epoxy of some sort and what kind of screen is that?
Rich
I said I would answer questions on the rocker arm set up, I didn't realize I would be given the 3rd degree by a TB 'if you don't do things our way you're wrong' lackey.
Frank,.... see that's the problem with the internet. I asked a genuine question about how and what you used to do that. I wasn't passing judgement but apparently it has been read that I am scrutinizing your work.
Sorry I even asked.
...
Who is claiming that?
I don't see that anywhere in this thread? DontKnow:
If they are pm'ing you tell them to screw off. Grow the balls to post.
You're right Jason! My response was out of line and the last thing I want to do is make enemies.
Hi Jared,
I've had the screens since 2006 and I've had the magnets on the motor and tranny since 2002. This ain't my first rodeo pardner but, I thank you for your input. The screens are for large chunks that may not be ferrous and could cause damage to the bottom end. It's true that with a 109 block it would be hard to pass large pieces thru those 3/4" holes but, it can happen. The return/feed holes in my block are much bigger than that and could easily pass an entire lifter thru.
I thought ya'll hot roders might like these pics. Did these myself. This is what our hobby is all about ain't it, make that hot rod yours. I did this back in 2006, as far as I know, I was the first, I could be wrong though.
Looks good, that is absolutly what hot rodding is all about
As for who did them first I think Razor did a set for his car in early 2004, IDK of anyone doing a set for TTA heads before then. I know it was after I saw his set that I contacted Harland Sharp and sent him a head and valve cover to make a set for me which we had done late in that year and running for the 2005 season![]()
Hi TTA850,
Thank you for your comment. You may be right about the date. I do remember talking to Julio about this. Actually, I put the stage 1 motor in my car in 2006. I had the rollers several years before that, I'm just not clear on when I put them in but, it really don't matter. There's a lot of us that come up with ideas. I also remember talking to Julio in 2002 at Bristol about his idea of the alky kit, well, I think that's right. It was the last year of the BOP nationals and I was already putting the rockers in. Who really cares? The point is, it can be done! It really don't matter who gets credit, now does it.
